Obituary for Carol Wittbrodt

Carol A. Wittbrodt, 75, of Coldwater passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at her home.

The funeral service will be held Friday, July 26, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor Carl Ballard of the Reformation Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Coldwater. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2013 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home.

Carol was born December 14, 1937 in Detroit to Frederick and Dorothy (Hinton) Hofmann and was a 1954 graduate of Denby High School. Carol married Paul R. Wittbrodt in Detroit on June 27, 1958, he preceded her in death on October 9, 2003.

Mrs. Wittbrodt and her husband owned and operated the Fremont Grocery for many years. She had also worked for Parkside & CVS Pharmacies. Carol was an active member of the Reformation Lutheran Church where she served on the church council. She volunteered at the H and C Burnside Senior Center and was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Coldwater Eagles. Carol enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was very generous and always willing to help others.

Carol is survived by her sons Paul (Tamara) Wittbrodt of Coldwater, Clifford (Laurie) Wittbrodt of Hudsonville, her daughter Deborah Olszewski of Ann Arbor, her sister Barbara Hofmann of Coldwater, her grandchildren Kimberly Olszewski, Michael David Olszewski , Erik Wittbrodt serving in the US Navy, Paul A. Wittbrodt, Ethan Wittbrodt, Owen Wittbrodt, Nathan Wittbrodt, her great grandchildren, Lucas and Casey Swain, the Gracer Family, her dear friend Gary Hall and her loving extended family Joe and LaVonne Silva. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and her son Kenneth Wittbrodt in 1962.

The family would like to thank her caregivers Penny Cook, Aloma Welch and Trina Charles and Great Lakes Caring Hospice for their unconditional devotion.

Memorials may be directed to the Branch County Humane Society or to the Branch County Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
