Two Boys, Killed in Same Battle. Will Be Buried Under Auspices of American Legion.
Two Battle Creek boys, serving in the battle of Cantigny, are to be buried from Hebbles chapel Sunday afternoon service in the first double funeral service held in the city. The boys are Cirenus F. McCary and Colvin B. Jaquays, both of the headquarters company, 28th Infantry. First division. The body of the former arrived here this morning, while that of the latter reached here Wednesday, McCary was killed May 28, 1918, while Jaquays was killed in the same battle the following day. McCary was 21 years old at the time of his death ,and was the first one to enlist in Manistee county after the declaration of war, joining the army on April 6, 1917, Jaquays was born January 21, 1901, enlisting at the age of only 15 years. He was 17 when he was killed.
The funeral services are in charge of the General Custer post of time American Legion. The Rev. Carlton B. Miller, post chaplain, will deliver the eulogy, assisted by the Rev Charles Cliff.
The funeral cortege will go first to Oak Hill cemetery where services will be held for Cirenus McCarey, and from there will-go to Marshall, where Colvin Jaquays will be buried.
A firing squad from Camp Custer will be present for both services
Cirenus McCary is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob McCary, and has sister Mr. L. E.. Gorton living at 210 South Washington. Colvin Jacobs was born in Bellevue and has no relatives here.

The Cirenus E. McCary post of the American Legion has been organized at Bear Lake. Chester Brunals was elected post commander. The post will make application for ten rifles allotted by the war department. Cirenus McCary was a former Battle Creek boy and is buried in Oak Hill. His body was brought back from overseas, and the funeral held under Legion auspices here.
