Guy R. Barton, 80, of 120 Winter St., a lifelong resident of the area and builder of hundreds of homes in and near the city, died Saturday night in a local hospital. He had been ill nearly a year and hospitalized since Feb. 10.

He was born here, a son of Robert and Nettie(Simons) Barton, both members of pioneer families. His father was song known as Battle Creek's leading blacksmith. The son learned the carpenter trade and for many years was building contractor.

Mr. Barton was first married in 1905 to Bertha Crane, who died in 1916. In 1925, he was married to Fanny M. Etheridge, who survives. Other survivors include a daughter by his first marriage, Mrs. Joseph(Beartrice) Gillum 82 Wiltshire Ave.; a son by his second marriage, Thomas R. Barton of 295 Minges Road; two sisters Mrs. Fred(Nettie)Bement of Detroit and Mrs. Alex(Hazel) Barthell of Manhasset N.Y., three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mr. Barton was a member of the West Michigan avenue Nazarene church.
