Lurena Mary Young was the second child of Barbara Ellen Huss and Chauncey Young.
Lurena married George W. Ralston on February 1, 1897. Lurena and George started married life on a farm east of Angola, Indiana. They later purchased a farm in Branch County, Michigan where they reared their family of five children.
In 1915, George was elected Sheriff of Branch County and the family moved to Coldwater. On September 12, 1917, George was shot and killed by an insane man. Lurena continued to reside in Coldwater and saw that her family received their education.
In June of 1925, Lurena married Emmett Bidleman and they made their home on an orange grove in Corona, California. Emmett passed away in 1935.
For the next five years, Lurena made her home with her daughter, Mabel, in Santa Barbara. Lurena died in 1940. She is buried in the family plot in Coldwater, Michigan.
George and Lurena had children: Mabel May, Myrtie, Milo, Merle, and Melvin.
