Seymour P Snyder, of Co. A, enrolled Aug. 25, 1861 in Angola by Capt. Kinney as a Private; mustered in Sep. 25, 1861 in Ft. Wayne by Maj. Carpenter at age 18. He was 5Π8 tall, fair complexion, grey eyes, and light hair. Born Nov. 24, 1845 in Trumbull Co., OH, employed as a laborer, single, resident of Angola, in Steuben Co., IN. Mustered out at the end of the war Sep. 14, 1865 in Nashville, TN with rank of 1st Sergeant. Notes: Actual age was 15 at muster in; son of Lewis and Sarah Snyder. Sick in quarters Jan.-Feb. 1862. Promoted Corporal Jan. 1, 1864. Reenlisted Jan. 1, 1864. Promoted Sergeant Mar. 24, 1865; 1st Sergeant Apr. 24, 1865. On leave Jun. 27, 1865. Married Elizabeth Swain 1866 in Branch Co., MI. He filed Invalid Pension Application to receive Pension Certificate #395269 Jan. 7, 1886. Resident of MI 1880. Died Mar. 18, 1888; buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, Sec. B/Grave 12/Lot 95, Coldwater, Branch Co., MI.
