Marjorie L. Bilsborrow, 87, of Coldwater went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at her home, under the care of her son Ken & Karen Bilsborrow.
The service for Marjorie will be Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor Dave Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 8 from 4-8:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home.
Marjorie was born at her family's home in Devereaux, Michigan on November 24, 1924. She was the youngest of three sisters, born to Irwin & Hazel (Butler) Elmer. She attended a one room country school in Devereaux for 8 years before graduating from Washington-Gardner High School in Albion in 1943.
Marjorie married George Bilsborrow on Sept. 29, 1945 in Parma, MI, quickly adapting to being a farmer's wife and all the chores that go with it. They moved to a farm in Branch Co. in 1953 and together raised three children. When George became disabled Marjorie went to work to support the family. She worked for the former G.C. Murphy's Store, the CHC Cafeteria, Kerr Hardware and JC Penney's from where she retired in 1982. She later worked part-time as the noon supervisor at Legg Middle School and was involved with the grandparent program at Franklin School.
Marjorie was a member of her sons' church, the Good News Bible Church, where she enjoyed the singing and preaching she found there. She was active in the Grange during her years in Devereaux and had served on the school board for the Diamond Country School. Mrs. Bilsborrow loved being a homemaker; cooking, canning, sewing and gardening. Most of all she adored her family and the time they spent together, especially with her grandchildren.
