Enlisted in Company K, 1st Sharpshooter Regiment, U. S. Volunteers on August 23, 1862. Transfered to Company H, 5th Michigan Infantry on December 23, 1864. Discharged from Federal Service on May 31, 1865 as Washington, DC.
